MX1 at IBC2018

Media companies today need to work faster, reduce operational costs, and offer more advanced features than the competition. Providing the ultimate viewer experience is the ultimate goal in the media environment, and that means having both live and VOD content available on every screen.

At IBC2018, MX1 will demonstrate new capabilities and workflow enhancements of its MX1 360 platform. MX1 360 is the company’s unified media platform for managing and delivering linear and nonlinear content to any broadcast, VOD, or OTT platform. This powerful, next-generation platform enables broadcasters and service providers to offer a full range of end-to-end services, as well as successfully aggregate, manage, and deliver linear and nonlinear content. With MX1 360, one platform does it all, delivering a one-stop-shop for broadcasters to handle all their content requirements — from preparing, packaging, managing, and validating high-quality content to reliable playout and optimal delivery for multiscreen viewing. The new additions to MX1 360 that will be on display at IBC2018, enable media companies to do even more, helping them manage the increasing complexity of workflows and further monetise their content.

NEW to the MX1 360 Media Platform — AI Capabilities and Occasional Use Booking Interface:

AI Technology Boosts Access to Descriptive Metadata

MX1 360 is now integrated with AWS Rekognition, Amazon Web Service’s market-leading artificial intelligence (AI) engine. Using AI technology, the MX1 360 platform can scan video content during ingest (or at a later stage) and automatically generate searchable, descriptive metadata. Faces, objects, and on-screen text can be quickly located using this cutting-edge AI analysis technology. A speech-to-text engine — coming soon — will enable media companies to automatically transcribe every spoken word within media assets.

Easy-to-Use Booking Interface for Occasional Use Customers

At IBC2018, MX1 will unveil a new booking interface for MX1 360 that is perfect for occasional-use customers that want to distribute live content via MX1’s hybrid satellite, fibre, and IP networks. Through this interface, broadcasters have full visibility into their submitted booking requests and can explore additional monetisation opportunities through post-event access to a content archive, ancillary files, clipping interface, and all required metadata.

MX1 Highlights Satellite Distribution, Channel Playout, and Digital Media Services at CABSAT 2018

MX1, a global solutions provider of media services, will highlight the scope of its traditional satellite uplink services at CABSAT 2018, Jan. 14-16 in Dubai. With a strong presence in the Middle East and reliable ground capabilities for regional and global reach via satellite, fibre, and IP, MX1 enables broadcasters and pay-TV providers in the region to expand their reach, dramatically simplify video distribution, and accelerate monetisation.

Satellite uplink services are vitally important in the region, and MX1 continues to be a leader in content delivery via SES and Nilesat platforms, operating on E7WA at 7.3 West and E8WB at 8.0 West, reaching an audience of more than 52 million viewers. In addition to showing these capabilities, MX1 will highlight its access to Hot Bird, Galaxy 19, Asiasat 5, Optus D2, Hispasat 5, SES-5, SES-6, and NSS-12 for truly global distribution beyond the region.

MX1 will also showcase its impressive range of playout facilities and capabilities from entry-level to fully managed applications in both SD and HD. MX1’s playout services support IP transport and delivery to single and multiple satellite, cable, or distribution platforms and headends. Relying on MX1’s extensive playout services, content providers can distribute point to point, point to multipoint, single screen to multiscreen, and to smart devices and tablets around the globe. A key highlight will be MX1’s remote cloud-based managed playout functionalities, which provide a cost-effective solution for the playout and localization of SD, HD, and UHD sports channels. By embracing MX1 cloud-based playout, content providers can create new sports channels rapidly, with full operator control over content and graphics.

“MX1 is a major player in the MENA market, with established customers and a solid infrastructure backbone. Thanks to our close relationship with SES and other major satellite operators in the market, we are providing truly global reach via satellite, fibre, and IP,” said Fadi Gharbieh, vice president of sales MENA at MX1. “At CABSAT, we will address the latest trends in the region, including the need for reliable satellite uplink services; efficient, fully managed playout; and an end-to-end platform for OTT distribution. With MX1’s services and solutions, broadcasters and service providers can deliver content — including 4K and UHD content — to every screen faster, at a lower cost, and with more advanced capabilities than their competitors.”
